Blend In With
Ceramic Braces

Ceramic braces at Guymon Orthodontics use clear materials and are less visible on your teeth. Clear braces give you a more subtle way to straighten your teeth in Logan and Hyrum and can give you the same stunning results as traditional braces.

Giving You a Clear Alternative to Metal

Clear braces with Dr. Guymon are less noticeable on your teeth than metal braces. Many older teenagers and adult patients at Guymon Orthodontics prefer this more subtle option because you can achieve a great smile without the visibility of metal braces.

Ceramic braces—also known as clear braces, tooth-colored braces, or aesthetic braces— can correct your bite and align your smile the same way as metal braces. At Guymon Orthodontics, they're smaller than ever and made of nearly invisible tooth-colored polycrystalline ceramic material.

Ceramic braces at Guymon Orthodontics blend in well with your natural smile. Though they're not completely invisible, and the brackets are about the same size and shape as metal braces, they’re much less noticeable than other options.

Differences Between Ceramic & Metal Braces

People throughout Logan and Hyrum know metal braces for their strength and durability. Ceramic braces are also tough, but they are made from a different, more fragile material that’s more likely to chip or crack.

While they are visually less prominent, clear braces require more oral hygiene attention, because the ceramic bracket braces are larger and more brittle than their metal counterparts.

Traditional braces are also better at tolerating pressure than newer ceramic ones. If you need more drastic corrections, metal braces with Dr. Guymon could be a better option. Adjustments with ceramic braces have to be slightly smaller, so it can take Guymon Orthodontics a little longer to align your teeth.

Having said that, both types of braces work on the same principles and tend to be equally as effective in most cases. Dr. Guymon uses ceramic braces more on the upper front than the lower teeth.

If you're worried about ceramic braces staining, you'll be happy to hear that it hasn't been a problem for quite a while. Ceramic brackets won't stain. But, the adhesive used to attach the brackets to the teeth and the clear elastic ties used to hold the wires in place can stain, giving an overall impression of discoloration or staining over time.

You can avoid things like coffee and tea, red wine, tomatoes, and mustard to reduce the chance of staining. This isn't necessary since Dr. Guymon makes sure we change your elastics at every adjustment appointment.

If you maintain a good oral hygiene routine and follow the treatment plan from Dr. Guymon, you shouldn’t have to worry too much about giving up your morning cup of coffee or evening glass of wine.

Best for Adults

At Guymon Orthodontics, we generally think ceramic braces suit adults and older teens better than children and younger teens. This is because ceramic brackets are more likely to break, and they're more expensive than metal brackets.
